1 3/4 cup tap water FNDDS

2 tsp yellow mustard, prepared USDA

1 ea dried bay leaf USDA

2 Tbsp canola oil USDA

0 1/2 cup fresh yellow onion, chopped USDA

1 cup canned sauerkraut, in liquid USDA

3 2/3 cup beef broth FNDDS
-
0 1/8 tsp table salt USDA

6 ea beef hot dog USDA
-
0 1/8 tsp black pepper, ground USDA
-
1 tbsp sucralose artificial sweetener FNDDS
DIRECTIONS
- In a medium pot over medium-high heat, warm oil. Add chopped hot dogs and onions and sauté, stirring frequently, until hot dogs are browning and onions are soft, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in broth, water, sauerkraut (liquid and solids), sweetener, mustard, and bay leaf and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat if needed and simmer 5 minutes, until hot dogs are fully cooked and flavors have blended. Remove bay leaf, stir in salt and pepper, and serve while hot.
- One serving is about 1 ¾ cups soup. Garnish with additional mustard if desired.
